Texas Hold’em Poker is available in 3 different versions: Limit Texas Hold’em, No-Limit Texas Hold’em, and Pot Limit Texas Hold’em.

Limit Texas Hold’em

When playing Limit Texas Hold’em, bets and raises are made according to predetermined limits. For example, a maximum of four bets is allowed in each betting round. In the other two Texas Hold’em variants (No Limit and Pot Limit) there are no rules that limit the number of bets/raises.

No-Limit Texas Hold’em

The maximum bet is determined by the number of chips you have. Players place and raise any bets, at any time. The bet to be raised must be equal to or greater than the previous bet made in the same round.

Explanation Pot Limit Texas Hold’em

This game is similar to No-Limit Texas Hold’em. There is only one difference in the rules: The maximum bet is determined by the number of chips in the pot.

Forcing a bet in Texas Holdem

Playing Texas Hold’em Poker starts with a forced stake. These bets are placed by the first two players sitting to the left of the dealer. They put in the pot the amount decided before the cards are dealt. Forced stakes are a guarantee that there will be something to play for each hand. The first player to the left of the dealer places a bet which is called the small blind. This is usually half the minimum bet. The next player to the left bets the big blind, which is equal to the minimum bet. This is called forced betting.

Dealing cards in Texas Hold’em

In Texas Hold’em, a small puck called the “button” indicates which player should deal with the cards in a given round. Each player gets two hole cards and their values are kept secret by the players.

Before the cards are lined up (pre-flop)

After the cards are dealt face down, the first player to the left of the player who placed the big blind bet takes the floor. As the third person to bet, he can double the big blind (raise). He must do so before the next cards are dealt. The other players can call, fold or raise (re-raise).

Texas Hold’em Poker rules – explanation of the flop

Three exposed cards are dealt. This is called a community card lining. The 3 cards on the table can be used by all active players. We call them community cards.

Fourth community card (turn)

After placing the bets in the card laying round, the fourth community card will be placed on the table. In Texas Hold’em, this card is called “turn”. The game starts with the first active player to the left of the button. On this hand, bets are doubled from small blind to the big blind. If you play at a $2 / $4 table, bets in this round are raised to $4.

Fifth community card (river)

After betting on the fourth community card, the fifth community card is dealt to the table. Betting starts again with the player sitting to the left of the button. The same rules apply in this hand as in the “turn” hand.

The final phase of the Texas Hold’em game: Showdown

If there are at least two active players left in the game after the last betting round, it’s time to face up! The first card is revealed by the person who made the last bet or raises. If there is no raise in the last hand, the cards are revealed first by the player sitting to the left of the button. The money in the pot is won by the player with the strongest cards.

In a game of Texas Hold’em, all flush is of equal value. Thus, if the players have cards of the same shape, the pot will be split. After the prize has been awarded, the players can start the next hand. The “button” then moves clockwise to the next player.
